Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 April 2026

1. About These Terms

These terms govern your use of the Brisbane Smoke Alarms & Compliance website and services. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

2. Our Services

Brisbane Smoke Alarms & Compliance provides:

  • Smoke alarm installation (wireless photoelectric systems)
  • Smoke alarm upgrades and replacements
  • Compliance inspections and audits
  • Rental and seller compliance services
  • Annual testing and maintenance
  • Compliance certificates

All electrical work is carried out by licensed QLD electricians in accordance with Queensland legislation and Australian Standards.

3. Quotes & Pricing

Quotes provided via our website or phone are estimates based on the information you provide. Final pricing may vary following an on-site inspection if the property differs from the description provided. We will confirm any changes before proceeding with additional work.

Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless otherwise stated.

4. Bookings & Appointments

Once a booking is confirmed, we will attend the property at the agreed date and time. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a call-out fee.

We require reasonable access to all areas of the property where smoke alarms need to be installed, inspected or tested.

5. Payment Terms

Payment is due upon completion of the service unless other arrangements have been agreed in writing. We accept bank transfer, credit card and cash. For body corporate or property management clients, we offer invoicing with 14-day payment terms by arrangement.

6. Warranty

All smoke alarms installed by Brisbane Smoke Alarms & Compliance come with the manufacturer’s warranty (typically 10 years). Our workmanship is guaranteed. If you experience an issue with an alarm we installed, contact us and we will rectify it promptly.

Warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, tampering, water damage, power surges, pest infestation or events beyond our control.

7. Compliance Certificates

Compliance certificates are issued based on the condition of your smoke alarm system at the time of inspection or installation. The certificate confirms compliance at that point in time. Ongoing compliance is the property owner’s responsibility, including regular testing and battery replacement as required by QLD law.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law:

  • Our liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount you paid for that service
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, data or opportunity
  • We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our control (weather, access issues, supply shortages)

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Your Responsibilities

As a customer, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your property when requesting a quote
  • Ensure safe access to your property for our electricians
  • Inform us of any known hazards (asbestos, unsafe wiring, pets, etc.)
  • Test your smoke alarms monthly as recommended by QLD Fire and Emergency Services
  • Not tamper with or remove installed smoke alarms
